WOMEN, babies and their families celebrated World Breastfeeding Week at an annual picnic in Victoria Park, Portsmouth.

The event was organised by Solent NHS Trust and the Portsmouth breastfeeding network as an opportunity for mums to seek information and support from trained volunteers.

Amanda Malthouse, area lead for the breastfeeding and healthy weight team, said: ‘We want to get people talking about breastfeeding and this event was a fun way of spreading the benefits of breastfeeding.

‘It was also a great chance to let mums know there is lots of help and support out there for them if they need it.’

The picnic works in conjunction with the Breastfeeding Welcome Scheme that encourages venues, businesses and public areas to support mums when they feed their babies out and about.
