PORTSMOUTH City Council is holding a fostering event in the hope of attracting more carers to look after local children.

The event will give people the chance to speak to local children who have experienced foster care, as well as talk to foster carers.

The council will also showcase its new fostering DVD, which will feature foster children and carers from the city.

Kate Freeman, the council’s looked-after children service commissioning manager, said: ‘By using our own foster carers in the DVD, people get to hear from the experts about what it is really like.

‘I hope that many people from across the south come to our event to find out more.’

The event will take place on Wednesday, June 15, at the Spinnaker Tower, from 7pm to 9pm.

The council’s fostering team will be on hand to answer questions and provide information.

People will also be able to get a copy of the fostering DVD.
