THERE are still places left to see a play which tells the true story of how drug addiction destroyed a family.

It is based on an acclaimed book of the same name, Mum Can You Lend Me Twenty Quid? by Elizabeth Burton-Phillips.

As reported, it will be performed on Tuesday at 2pm and 7pm, at the Square Tower, Broad Street, in Old Portsmouth, and again on Wednesday at 1pm at
the Menuhin Theatre, Central Library, Guildhall Square.

The free play is supported by Portsmouth City Council, Hampshire Constabulary, and the Rebound Carers Group – a drug and alcohol addiction service specifically for carers.

Dr Janet Maxwell, director of public health for Portsmouth, said: ‘The council is supporting this free play in order to show residents that through hard times people can find hope and addicts can learn to live drug-free.’
