A LEADING GP has welcomed a national charity’s announcement to fund swimming lessons in Gosport for physically disabled children.

Dr David Chilvers, chairman the Fareham and Gosport Clinical Commissioning Group, praised the move by Level Water.

It will give free lessons to children who are aged four to 11, who have a physical disability or visual or hearing sensory impairment, and who cannot swim 10 metres unaided.

Dr Chilvers said: ‘For parents or carers of children with physical disabilities to get this chance is a great opportunity to learn a skill which will enhance life by helping to keep them fit and healthy.’
