SMOKERS who want to quit the habit can get expert help at a No Smoking Day event.

NHS staff will be on hand at the event to give helpful tips and advice, and information about the free support and tools on offer to help you stop smoking.

They will advise people on all products available and how best to use them, including patches, inhalers, gums, lozenges and nasal spray.

The event will take place on No Smoking Day on Wednesday, March 9, at the John Pounds Centre in Portsmouth.

There will also be other health experts at the event who can give advice on things such as how to avoid weight gain when giving up smoking.

And there will be a nurse to carry out health checks for height, weight, body mass index (BMI) and blood pressure.

All smokers are invited along to the event, even if they don’t plan on giving up just yet. They can still get information on support and services available.

The no-smoking event will take place at the centre in Queen Street from 8.30am to 11.30am. For more information call (023) 9289 2010.
