A GP practice in Portsmouth is moving.

Somerstown Surgery, in Blackfriars Close, Southsea, will move into the Somers Town Health Centre this weekend.

The three GPs – Dr Lizzie Smiley, Dr Liz Shepherd and Dr Brendon Hayes – will move across with staff and the surgery will be open to patients on Monday.

The surgery has 3,800 registered patients who live on both sides of Winston Churchill Avenue, close to the health centre, which is known as The Hub.

The surgery is part of the Portsdown Group Practice, which operates six surgeries in Portsmouth.

Business partner Mark Stubbings said: ‘We are delighted finally to be moving into our new home.

‘We know the relocation will mean some of our patients do have a little further to travel, but, equally, many will also have a little less far to go.

‘Obviously, our sincere apologies go to any patients who feel inconvenienced by the move, but we are moving into an iconic building with great facilities for all our patients.

‘There’s much to do between now and the weekend but we are all very excited by the opportunities that this move has generated.’

The surgery’s telephone number and opening hours will remain the same and the new surgery doors will be open for business from 8am on Monday.
