GPs urge people in Portsmouth area to check repeat prescriptions

PEOPLE are being reminded to check their prescriptions before the coming bank holiday.

It is likely GP practices and pharmacies will have reduced opening hours as Monday is a bank holiday.

GPs are urging people to order repeat prescriptions in good time to avoid getting caught out by the long weekend and helping to reduce the pressure on staff.

Dr David Chilvers, GP and chair of the governing body at Fareham and Gosport Clinical Commissioning Group said: ‘If you or your loved ones need repeat medication, please check you have enough to last the bank holiday weekend.

‘If you’re running low, now is the time to place those prescription orders.

‘It is no surprise that our front-line staff come under extra pressure during the holiday periods.

‘But simple actions like placing prescription orders early and keeping your medicine supplies well-stocked up can help things run more smoothly.’
