Grant pays for new machines at Portsmouth hospital

A GRANT of more than £3,000 has seen monitors mounted to the wall of hospital rooms.

All the isolation side rooms in the medical assessment unit at St Mary’s Hospital, in Milton, now have the machines thanks to Friends of St Mary’s.

Although the machines were in four single-bed rooms, they weren’t in the four two-bed rooms.

Now, thanks to a grant of £3,624 all the beds have their own machines on the wall.

Unit sister Jessy Gulati said: ‘We are definitely very grateful.

‘The machines monitor patients’ blood pressure and oxygen levels, through a probe on a finger. Such checks could be made four times a day.

‘By now having each bed with its own machine there is no longer any need to carry a machine to different beds.’
