A GROUP of walking enthusiasts put their best foot forward to promote healthier lifestyles.

The Walking Friends Portsmouth group set off on two or three-mile walks from Baffins Community Centre as part of their active programme of weekly walks.

Group chairman Lesley Parkhurst said: ‘We are walking for health which aims to get inactive people out walking.

‘When people get fit we aim to do more.

‘We provide country walks of four or five miles and they are the most popular.

‘We like to think we are a health and wellbeing group trying to fulfil the physical requirements of health.

‘We hope to provide a useful service to the community and promote wellbeing.

‘It’s surprising to people that exercise and walking can help with various medical conditions.’

It costs £5 a year to join the group.
