Hampshire adoption agencies to lead recruitment day

Adoption agencies are coming together to host a joint recruitment event for prospective adopters of children.

Professional staff will answer questions, and prospective adopters will also have the opportunity to chat to families who have already adopted, and hear directly about their experiences of the recruitment process and life as a family.

The occasion is being held at the Ageas Bowl in Hedge End on Saturday, November 26. It takes place from 10am to 2pm.

There is no need to book and attendees can drop in from 10am.

The agencies, which include Barnardo’s, Hampshire County Council, Isle of Wight Council, PACT, Portsmouth City Council and Southampton City Council, will meet the needs of prospective adopters.

Councillor Ryan Brent, Portsmouth City Council’s Tory cabinet member for children’s social care, said: ‘I would urge anyone considering adoption to come along to the Ageas Bowl and meet with as many agencies as possible.

‘Adopters provide a lifelong and loving family environment for some of our most vulnerable children, enabling them to grow, develop and achieve their goals.’
