TEAMS are being asked to sign up for what is being billed as the biggest quiz in the county to raise money for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

Portsmouth Guildhall is being given as a venue to the organisers for free to hold the quiz on August 16.

It is the brainchild of Cliff Woodward and Scott Mills, who work at Fareham’s Taylor Made Computer Solutions.

They did some work for the charity and were shocked to learn it costs £4,000 a day to run.

Mr Woodward said: ’The air ambulance does amazing work, and is called out on an average of two to three missions a day, many of them life saving. It’s something I’m really passionate about and every chance Scott and I get, we’re out raising money.

‘We’ve taken part in races and signed up to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa – but this is the biggest event we’ve organised so far. We’re really hoping local businesses, families and groups of friends get behind us.’

The top prize is £1,000. Up to 500 competitors are expected to take part and The Benedicts will be performing.

Tickets are £15 and food is included. Call (023) 8033 3777 or visit hiow-airambulance.org.uk
