HE’S the Harry Potter star that will have Moonlit Memories walkers in a flap.
Meet Billy the owl, who graced the silver screen as the Weasley family’s owl Errol in the smash-hit films.
He has already paid two visits to the day care centre at The Rowans Hospice, in Purbrook Heath Way, and will now be at the launch of the charity’s biggest fundraiser in June.
Sophie Gunner, a fundraiser for the hospice, got the chance to hold the famous owl.
She said: ‘I have always been a Harry Potter fan so it was a wonderful experience holding Billy and to have a photograph taken with him.
‘He was very friendly and is obviously used to getting a lot of attention.
‘We would like to encourage more people to sign up for our Moonlit Memories Walk and Billy will be on hand to pose for photos with walkers from 9pm until the start of the walk at 11pm.’
This is the seventh night-time walk in Portsmouth, which can be done in memory of a lost loved one.
It takes place on Saturday, June 21, and starts and finishes in Castle Field, Southsea. There is a six-mile or 12-mile route for walkers to choose from.
They also have the opportunity to light a candle in Portsmouth Anglican Cathedral – this is included in both the routes. Portsmouth City Band will entertain the crowds at the start of the walk, which goes through the Historic Dockyard.
Volunteer marshals are positioned throughout the routes to direct walkers and encourage them on the way.
All money raised goes towards supporting people in Portsmouth and south east Hampshire affected by life-threatening illnesses.
Registration is £20 per person and open to everyone aged 13 years or over.
Participants receive a T-shirt, medal and refreshments.
