IT’S in charge of buying in services for Portsmouth and champions great health care – and now the NHS Portsmouth Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is the overall sponsor for this year’s The News Best Of Health Awards 2015.

Details for how to nominate are below

Dr Jim Hogan, lead of Portsmouth CCG, said: ‘We’re delighted to be the main sponsor of The News Best of Health Awards this year – and to celebrate the achievements of just some of the thousands of NHS staff and other workers who care passionately about their jobs and the people they look after.

‘Understandably, stories about neglect, mistreatment and poor care in health services nationally dominate the headlines when they occur.

‘But such stories mask the efforts of the vast army of people whose working lives are dedicated to what is still very much the “caring profession”.

‘These awards recognise some of the people who, day in and day out, show commitment as well as compassion in what they do – irrespective of whether they are someone who will take a patient a cup of tea or have to make life-or-death decisions.

‘The Portsmouth CCG plans and buys most of your health services in the city, including those provided by Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs Queen Alexandra Hospital.

‘Our job is to ensure when people go to hospital, visit their GP, move into a nursing home or need support in their own homes from community health services, that they get the best possible care and are treated with compassion, dignity and respect.

‘It’s at the heart of everything we plan for.

‘The News Best Of Health Awards, with nominations made by the public we serve, demonstrate there is a huge amount that can be celebrated in our National Health Service and the voluntary and third sectors.

‘That’s why we are giving them our complete support.’

Entries for the awards close on Friday, July 3.
