MP Mike Hancock has welcomed the news that the controversial NHS Risk Register is a step closer to being published.
The Portsmouth South MP has been lobbying the Health Secretary Andrew Lansley to release the report which details all the risks involved in implementing the Health and Social Care Bill.
The bill will result in the biggest shake-up of the NHS since it was created and has proved controversial.
However the Government says it has not decided if it will appeal against a Freedom of Information tribunal ruling to make the register public.
The Department of Health last week lost an appeal to reverse the tribunal’s decision.
In a letter to Mr Lansley Mr Hancock said: ‘I urge you not to appeal this decision – the NHS bill is the biggest since its inception and the public deserve to know exactly what risks are going to be involved in its reform.’
