A KEY health figure in Portsmouth is backing The News’ Best of Health Awards 2013.
Andrew Mortimore is the interim director of public health in Portsmouth.
He said: ‘These awards are an excellent way of drawing attention to so many good things that are going on, day in and day out, to help people when they are ill and to help them stay healthy.
‘It’s great The News want to help us celebrate successes and the people who are making a difference through their work in the health service.
‘There is a lot of doom and gloom around these days, but the vast majority of people in the health service remain positive and are totally committed in their work to provide the best care they can for people.
‘It’s great when this is recognised and is an encouragement for everyone involved.
‘The NHS is constantly changing, so this isn’t new, but is perhaps on a bigger scale. We all recognise we have to continue to change and improve.’
