A GROUP of GPs who will take responsibility for commissioning health services in Portsmouth is a step closer to starting work.

The Portsmouth Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has had a visit from senior NHS officials to assess their plans, progress and credentials.

The CCG has to prove it is able to commission safely, responsibly manage its finances, improve quality, reduce inequality and deliver improved health outcomes within its available resources.

Dr Jim Hogan, the CCG’s chief clinical officer, said the site visit went well.
