PEOPLE who want to give blood or find out information are invited to the next two donor sessions in the area.

NHS Blood and Transplant, which runs the service, has announced its next sessions, which take place in Portsmouth and Southsea.

They are at the following dates, places and times:

· Tuesday, August 21, at St Swithun’s Church, Waverley Road, Southsea, from 1.30pm to 3.25pm and 4.30pm to 7.30pm.

· Thursday, August 23, at Thorngate Halls, Bury Road, Gosport, from 1.30pm to 3.25pm and 4.30pm to 7.30pm.

Regularly giving blood can help save lives as donations go towards emergency operations and pregnant women.

Generally, people need to be aged 17 to 65 – if it’s their first time – and weigh at least 50kg (7st 12lb) to donate.
