MORE than 300 shoes are being collected to represent the number of people that die in Portsmouth due to smoking-related diseases.
NHS Portsmouth, Portsmouth City Council and the British Heart Foundation, is working together to collect 325 pairs of shoes.
Wednesday is national No Smoking Day – a day that aims to support those who want to quit.
Barbara Skinner, from the public health team at NHS Portsmouth, said: ‘Quitting is the single most important thing smokers can do to improve their health and it will have health benefits at whatever age they do it.
‘I’m delighted several services in Portsmouth have agreed to work together to make the most of No Smoking Day and help.
