A WATER company is celebrating scooping a prestigious accolade.

Portsmouth Water has been successful in the 60th year of the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2016.

For the second year running the company has won the President’s Award in an annual scheme run by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.

The awards recognise businesses and organisations that have shown commitment to accident and ill-health prevention.

Neville Smith, managing director at Portmouth Water, which has its head office in Havant, said: ‘It is excellent news.

‘This award is high recognition of our achievements in health and safety over many years and is a true testimony of the efforts that everyone in the company has put in to make us a safer place to work.’

Julia Small, from Portsmouth Water, said the awards ‘raise the bar’ for other organisations to aspire to.
