A COUNTY council is offering to partially pay for a falls prevention course, if the applicant sets up classes afterwards.

Hampshire County Council (HCC), in partnership with Winchester City Council and DC Leisure, is inviting exercise instructors to attend the Otago course.

Developed in Otago, New Zealand, it aims to improve balance, strength and confidence to reduce the risk of falls and injuries for older people.

The two-day course will be held in Winchester on Thursday, October 24, and Wednesday, November 13.

It costs £372, HCC is offering a reimbursement of £100 per person when the applicant has set up two on-going classes in their area.
