IT’S AN exciting way to celebrate your 100th birthday.

‘Daring’ Doris Long will be abseiling down the Spinnaker Tower in Gunwharf Quays on the same day she marks a century.

The thrill-seeking pensioner will be raising money for The Rowans Hospice, which is hosting an abseiling weekend on May 17 and 18.

Doris, who has raised more than £9,000, will be abseiling on the Sunday, along with TV presenter Fred Dinenage.

She said: ‘Raising funds for The Rowans Hospice is what I like most.

‘Fundraising is the challenging part rather than the abseiling.’

Registration is now open – there are 40 places available each day.

It costs £45 with a target to raise £200.
