Lady Wot Swims is taking on Sport Relief swimathon challenge at Mountbatten Centre, Portsmouth

SUPER swimmer Chris Pitman is preparing to do 200 lengths of an Olympic-sized pool for Sport Relief.

Swimming coach Chris, 64, from Havant, is taking part in the Swimathon at the Mountbatten Leisure Centre, in Portsmouth, where she will swim 5km.

Chris is no stranger to epic water challenges. She swam the English Channel and is part of the Ladies Wot Swim team who swam in a relay around the Isle of Wight.

Her next adventure, after Sports Relief, is to swim from Jersey to France in July.

She said: ‘I’m really looking forward to Saturday.

‘I’ve done a lot of training and I feel absolutely ready for it. I’m hoping to raise around £100 for Sport Relief.’

Chris’s big swims come despite the fact she has a pacemaker to ensure her heart beats at a healthy rhythm. She added: ‘I could be swimming up to 200 lengths if the boom is up in the pool on Saturday so I’m hoping it’s down so there’s less turning.’

To sponsor Chris go to swimathon.org and search for her name.
