A FREE course to support people living with more than one long-term health condition will start.

The Fareham and Gosport Clinical Commissioning Group has paid for Self Management UK to run courses to support patients with diabetes, epilepsy, asthma or a heart condition.

The courses, which start in September from various locations, are over six weekly sessions.

They will be run by two people, who are living with long-term conditions.

The aim is to help people manage their conditions, improve wellbeing and have a better relationship with friends, family and the healthcare system.

Dr Ian Bell, clinical lead, for the CCG, said: ‘Self-management training and support is absolutely crucial as it can make a real difference to people living with long-term conditions.

‘They learn about practical ways to manage their condition on a daily basis, improve their health, wellbeing and self-confidence. The peer support within the group also helps them to feel safe to share their experience and ask questions.’
