Cash to improve Hampshire dental services
MOBILE dental services could be introduced in south Hampshire.
That is an option the South of England Strategic Health Authority is exploring to spend a government grant of £1.6m in the region.
Extra cash for dentistry has been announced by Health Secretary Andrew Lansley in a bid to increase the number of people able to sign up with an NHS dentist.
Mr Lansley said: ‘Too many people still have problems getting to see an NHS dentist.
‘Giving people back their NHS dentist is a key priority of mine so I am delighted that we have been able to find more money for dentistry because of our successful programme of efficiency savings in the NHS.
‘This is a great example of how the money we are saving through better management, cutting bureaucracy and rooting out waste in the NHS is being reinvested in front-line services for patients.’
