STAFF at a children’s centre have been given £2,000.
The Willows Centre for Children in Battenburg Avenue, Cosham, was donated £2,407.
The money was given by the John Lewis Knight & Lee store in Palmerston Road, Southsea.
Sue Davies, deputy headteacher at the centre, said: ‘The main focus of our fundraising at the moment is to complete the revamp of our sensory room.
‘We raised £10,000 for the first phase for a “magic carpet” and the children love it.
‘We’re now focusing on the next phase which will bring the sensory room up to date with bubble tubes, a sound-to-light wall panel and talking cubes.
‘The children love being outdoors – we have a “secret garden”.
‘There are big jobs that need doing to make our garden a place for children to play and learn.
‘The fantastic help from John Lewis means we are a step closer to our goals and we are all really grateful.’
