First public meeting of new GP-led health trust

PATIENTS can find out more about how they can help shape healthcare in the area at a public meeting.

As reported, the Fareham and Gosport Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), was given authorisation to become a trust that will pay for health services in the area.

CCGs are set to replace primary care trusts in April this year as part of the Health and Social Care Act.

As part of the government reform, it wants to offer patients more information about quality of care and give them greater control of their health.

A Fareham and Gosport CCG public governing body meeting takes place on Wednesday, in the Octagon Room, Ferneham Hall, Osborn Road, from 1pm to 3pm.

Dr David Chilvers, the CCG’s clinical lead, said: ‘As GPs we understand our patients’ needs and relish this opportunity and challenge to make a real difference to people’s healthcare and lives.

‘We like people to get involved in our work and our meeting gives people another opportunity to find out more.’
