GPs needed to offer expertise on care
MORE doctors are being recruited on to a panel that will provide healthcare for parts of Hampshire.
The West Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is due to take over from primary care trusts in April 2013.
So far, seven GPs are on the CCG panel and will be making decisions on what healthcare to buy.
Each GP has come forward with specialist expertise and knowledge, including planned care, emergency care, children and families.
But the CCG is looking for leads on other areas such as GP practices, pharmacies and dentists, and community care.
Chairman Dr Sarah Schofield said: ‘West Hampshire is a large area covering a population of 536,643 people through 54 GP practices.
‘We want to make use of all of the expertise that is out there to ensure we draw on real knowledge to improve services.’
