Health trust to get cash
PATIENTS along the south coast are set to receive a cash injection to health services.
The Department of Health has allocated £7.5m to South Central strategic health authority to fund extra care during winter.
It has not been announced how the money will be divided in the area, but health bosses have welcomed the news.
The money will be given to the emerging clinical commissioning groups (CCG), which take over as NHS commissioners from 2013.
Dr Jim Hogan, chairman of Portsmouth CCG, said: ‘We want to strengthen care closer to the home so fewer people go to hospital.’
