WITH one in four people thought to have some sort of mental health problem in their lifetime, it’s important to get professional help when faced with such challenges.
That’s the message from Talking Changes, a service run by Solent NHS Trust.
People aged 16 or over and registered with a GP in Portsmouth, can access free help if they feel they are suffering mild to severe depression or anxiety.
Dr Mahdi Ghomi, counselling psychologist, said: ‘It’s quite normal for us all to have days when we feel a little down or are worried about things that have happened – or even that we fear might happen in the future. This can cause distress and dominate our lives. We need help to deal with this.
‘At Talking Change, talking therapy, self-help approaches and exercise tend to be most commonly recommended interventions we offer for common mental health problems such as anxiety or depression.
