Hospice chairman to meet prime minister

THE chairman of a children’s hospice that helps families in Hampshire is due to meet with the prime minister.

Professor Khalid Aziz, chairman of Naomi House children’s hospice, will meet David Cameron on Wednesday.

The House of Commons meeting will be a chance to discuss what the government can do to support children’s hospices.

Prof Aziz said: ‘For too long children’s hospices have been the Cinderellas when it comes to government funding.’

The chairman, along with two MPs hope to speak to Mr Cameron about setting up a national model to make funding more equal.

Naomi House says it receives less than 10 per cent of the £7m needed to run the hospice annually from the public purse, the rest is generated from fundraising.
