POIGNANT tributes have been paid after the death of a popular mum from Waterlooville.

Mum-of-two Lucy Jenkins died at her home in Linnet Close, Wecock, yesterday morning.

The 25-year-old had been suffering from a brain tumour and was at the centre of a fundraising campaign that had captured the hearts and minds of thousands of people across the area.

Her last wish was for her children, six-year-old Leah and 10-year-old Cameron, to enjoy a holiday at Disneyland when she died.

Dozens of fundraising events were organised and thousands of pounds has been raised in a few short weeks.

Spearheading the campaign has been Clare Baillie, a mum-of-four from Portsmouth, who spotted a poster outlining Lucy’s plight at the One Stop shop in Cowplain, where Lucy used to work.

Clare, who is fighting cancer herself, said: ‘I am absolutely heartbroken – I think everybody is.

‘It was a such a sunny day yesterday.

‘She had the most beautiful infectious smile and I think that was her smiling down on us, making that sun shine.’

Her husband Dave has written moving tributes on the Facebook page Lucy’s Last Wish, which now has more than 3,200 followers.

He wrote: ‘Lucy Jenkins will forever be in my heart.

‘She will always be my wife, an amazing mummy, daughter and sister. She didn’t care what others thought of her. You took her as she was or not at all.

‘She spoke her mind but most of all she ooozed love, happiness and affection.’
