AN MP has raised the question of when a report into the mortality rate at a Gosport hospital will be revealed.
It centres around an investigation conducted by professor Richard Baker into deaths at Gosport War Memorial Hospital in the 1990s.
Caroline Dinenage, MP for Gosport, has written to health secretary Jeremy Hunt.
The parliamentary question asks: ‘When the audit report conducted in 2002 by professor Richard Baker in to the number of deaths at Gosport War Memorial Hospital will be published.’
Richard Baker, a professor of clinical governance, who worked on the Harold Shipman inquiry, was appointed to look into 10 deaths at the hospital.
Concerns were raised patients were going to the hospital on the road to recovery, but died days later.
But to this date his results have not been made public.
Ms Dinenage said: ‘You can put a date for when you want the question answered, but I haven’t.
‘I don’t want them to rush the answer, so hope they get back to me in a few weeks with an answer.
‘It has been 10 years since the information has been there. Hampshire Constabulary and medical people have seen it, but not the families.’
