SHOWING his support for Dementia Awareness Week, an MP went on a dementia training course.
Mark Hoban, MP for Fareham, went along to the Kershaw Adult Day Care Centre to complete a training course which made him a dementia friend.
Dementia Friends training sessions teach people to recognise the symptoms of dementia.
The sessions provide practical methods to help those with the condition such as helping them to get on the right bus or assisting with directions.
Last year Fareham’s high street became the first in the UK to become dementia friendly, by providing the Dementia Friends training to staff.
Mr Hoban said: ‘As we all live longer lives the risks of developing dementia increase substantially.
‘I believe that it is increasingly important that we provide good quality information, education and support to ensure that people with the condition can live their lives to the full.
