STYLISTS will spend their day off cutting hair in memory of a very special young lady.

Amber Tee and the team at Zoom Hairdressing, in Park Parade, Leigh Park, will open up the salon on Sunday to raise money for the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Fund, at Southampton General Hospital.

It is where the family of Nadine Blake have asked well-wishers to send donations in the wake of her death earlier this month.

The glamorous 18-year-old had some of her wildest hairstyles created by Amber – including turning purple to pink.

On Sunday, the salon is open from 10am to 2pm to anyone who would like a hair cut and all the money paid will go direct to the charity.

Amber, 21, said: ‘Nadine came to me about six months ago and asked for pink hair.

‘We had to bleach it from purple then dye it pink which took about six-and-a-half-hours. But Nadine was patient when it came to fashion.

‘She looked fabulous and we became friends after that.

‘She had the most wonderful personality.

‘She always said what she thought which made everyone laugh.

‘Her death has hit the whole community – even people who didn’t know her. Even though we knew it was coming, it came as such a shock.

‘That’s why we decided it would be nice to get everyone together on Sunday so we can talk about her, chat about our memories of her.

‘There’s going to be lots of pink, including pink drinks, cakes and raffle prizes.’

Nadine suffered from complications arising from cystic fibrosis her entire life.

She didn’t let it stop her doing what she wanted to, despite long spells in hospital.

During her final months, she met the cast of The Only Way is Essex and struck up a friendship with pop star Peter Andre, which they both treasured.

Nadine was due to visit his house for dinner on the night she fell seriously ill.

She died in the arms of her parents, Carl and Becky, last month.

The treatment she received at the Adult CF unit at Southampton General Hospital and the care staff gave her entire family has inspired them and others to raise as much money for them as possible.

Nadine’s funeral is next Friday at Warblington Church, Havant, at 1pm.

All guests have been asked to wear an item of pink and any donations can be made to southamptonhospitalcharity.org stating the money should go to the Adults CF Fund.
