New Solent NHS app to help teens manage stress levels

YOUNG people can help manage their stress and anxiety levels through a new app.

Solent NHS Trust, which provides community and mental health services in Portsmouth, has developed the app for people aged 16 to 18 to note down their emotions by using a ‘how do you feel?’ gauge.

David Collins, clinical lead for the trust’s child and adolescent mental health service, said: ‘With the advancement of technology, health apps are becoming high demand.

‘Young people want to be able to get advice and help in the comfort of their own home, which is why we have developed Base – a free self-help app designed for those with anxiety, stress and depression.’

The app allows the young person to write diary entries which help them to keep track of when their stress and anxiety might be at its best or worst, and give tips on how to calm down and relax.

To download the app, search for Base in an app store, or visit solentcamhs.nhs.uk
