HER hard work training nurses to care for stroke patients has earned Colleen Lloyd a nomination for a national award.
The Portsmouth nurse is a finalist in the Nurse of the Year 2013 awards, organised by journal, Nursing Standard.
Colleen is part of a team of four who are teaching nurses in Ghana on how to care for patients who have had a stroke.
In Ghana stroke is the second largest cause of death, after malaria.
Nursing Standard’s editor-in-chief Jean Gray said: ‘Congratulations 
to Colleen on becoming one of our finalists.
‘Our annual awards provide a unique opportunity to highlight and reward excellent practice within the nursing profession.’
Colleen will discover whether she has won the International Nursing 
Award – which includes a prize of 
£500 – at a ceremony on March 12 in London.
