People urged to visit their dentists
EXTRA money has been spent on providing more dentistry services in Hampshire – and people are being encouraged to make use of them.
Since 2010 an extra £2.3m has been invested in Portsmouth and £5.8m in Hampshire.
The money has been used to provide new practices, increase opening hours and introduce a mobile service.
Natalie Jones, head of dental services for the primary care trust cluster Ship, which covers Portsmouth and Hampshire, said: ‘A few years ago finding and registering with an NHS dentist was very difficult.
‘However the PCTs have all invested additional funding and provided thousands of extra spaces.
‘If you aren’t with an NHS dentist and would like to be, but haven’t tried to register in the last year I would urge you to contact the Dental Helpline to find out what is available.
‘It’s important to remember you should visit a dentist regularly and not just when you are in pain or have a dental problems.’
