FIREFIGHTERS rescued a seriously-ill unconscious man from a moored boat at a marina so an ambulance crew could take him to hospital.

South Central Ambulance Service sent a rapid response vehicle, two double-crewed ambulances and an officer to Haslar Marina in Gosport on Thursday at 10.11pm.

A crew from Gosport fire station were then called at 10.42pm to get the man out of the boat and help with first aid, as they could get there quicker than a hazardous area response team.

The man was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham.
