A MANAGER in the NHS has been named as one of the most inspirational women in health for 2014.
Katie Hovenden, director of professional and clinical development for the Portsmouth Clinical Commissioning Group, has made the list of 50 inspirational women for the Health Service Journal.
Mrs Hovenden leads a team of practice-based pharmacists who are aiming to improve primary care.
She is also developing the role of community pharmacists through initiatives such as the award-winning healthy living pharmacies, which aim to reduce health inequalities through commissioned services and by actively promoting a healthy lifestyle.
She said: ‘I’m thrilled. Hopefully this will further encourage and inspire others to develop pharmacy-based services.’
Dr Jim Hogan,is the CCG’s clinical leader.
He said: ‘Katie is passionate about improving outcomes for patients.
‘It’s a great accolade to receive national recognition.’
