CANDLES will be lit for loved ones at a hospital appeal.

Portsmouth Hospitals Charity is hosting a Lights for Love Appeal evening in Cosham at Queen Alexandra Hospital on Thursday, December 10 at 6.30pm.

There will be a performance by a baroque choir, carol singing, thought-provoking readings, mince pies and mulled wine. For a suggested donation of £5, visitors can light a candle and write a personal message to go it.

All donations will go towards the wards, departments or the Rocky Appeal.

People taking part can choose the area at QA that will benefit.

Supporter and fundraiser Natalie Roy said she knew how important the hospital and its services were.

Ms Roy said her grandmother died earlier this year on the respiratory ward.

She said she planned to go to the appeal evening to give thanks to the hospital for the care that was given.

Ms Roy said: ‘I cannot thank the Queen Alexandra Hospital enough for not only the treatment my nan received, but also for their support.

‘The staff are so caring and thoughtful, and are like angels in uniform.

‘I will be lighting a candle for my nan.’

This event will be held outside next to the hospital’s quad building.

The charity supports all of the wards and departments across Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust. For more information call (023) 9228 6000 or e-mail fundraising@porthosp.nhs.uk.
