TICKETS are still available for a musical show that will help keep a hi-tech robot used for medical operations in Portsmouth.

The Kings Theatre, in Albert Road, Southsea, is hosting the Musical Extravaganza tonight, from 7.30pm.

Acts include Norman Wisdom impersonator Glenn Ford, the Military Wives Choir and the Royal Marines Association Concert Band.

Money raised will be donated to The Rocky Appeal, which is raising £1.6m to keep the Da Vinci robot at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham.

Mick Lyons, appeals co-ordinator, said: ‘This is a one-off night and the line-up looks brilliant.

‘Audience members will be getting fantastic value-for-money on what will be an entertaining night.

‘And of course the money raised will be donated to the appeal, which is paying for this marvellous robot.’

As previously reported, the robot can perform keyhole surgery which means surgeons will be able to look inside a patient without having to cut into them.

The machine is controlled by consultants via a console so surgeons can see inside a patient more clearly.
