THESE navy engineers are counting down the days until they can get behind The Rowans Hospice’s big bed push.
The team, who are studying a systems engineering and management course at HMS Sultan in Gosport, have thrown their weight behind the event which will raise money for the Dorothy’s Dream appeal to fund a new hospice at home service.
They are among dozens of people signed up to take it in turns to push the bed from the hospice in Purbrook to Canoe Lake in Southsea.
Lt Jamie Vaughan said: ‘We’re all really looking forward to the day and if I’m honest, I think there’s some friendly rivalry between us and the other bed push teams taking part such as
Hampshire Constabulary and Cosham fire brigade, as to who can raise the most money.
‘We’re all busy getting sponsorship for our leg of the bed push and we’re hoping that many members of the public can come and cheer us along on the day.’
The bed push will take place on Saturday, July 23, starting at the hospice at 9am and finishing at Canoe Lake at 3pm.
The route will go through Cosham, North End, Commercial Road, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, and along Southsea seafront, and finish with a picnic at Canoe Lake for all to attend.
The HMS Sultan team will take on the leg from Commercial Road to the Historic Dockyard.
The public are invited to show their support on the day and donate to the bed pushers as they pass by.
