A NEW interim chief executive has been announced to take the lead of a commissioning trust.

NHS England has announced that Felicity Cox will be taking on the role of interim area director for the Wessex Area Team.

This follows the departure of Debbie Fleming, who has been appointed as the new chief executive at the Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Wessex commissions specialist services along the south coast, such as vascular surgery, which is being discussed with a view to a potential reorganisation at the moment. This could see Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth lose its surgeons.

Felicity is currently the area director for Kent and Medway and will take on her new role from Tuesday.

Felicity, who is a registered pharmacist, said: ‘I’m very much looking forward to continuing to contribute to NHS England’s work to improve health outcomes and experience for all patients from my new role as area director for Wessex.’
