A FOURTH running group for women who want to take up the sport has been set up in Petersfield.

The 10-week programme, supported by East Hampshire District Council, first launched in January and has proved a big success with more and more women signing up.

The course, starting in September, will run on the same evening as the on-going improvers group, which takes place every week and which beginners can filter into as they feel ready.

The new group is for women who are looking to get fit and is led by Jo Heron, a qualified UK Athletics running coach.

Louise Christie, active lifestyle co-ordinator for East Hampshire, said: ‘More than 14 ladies from the Petersfield area signed up for the last course which shows that there is great demand for instructor-led running groups.

‘It also shows that many women would like to go running but simply don’t have the confidence to go on their own.’
