MORE than 100 guests turned out to mark the opening of a state-of-the-art medical centre in the heart of Cowplain.

Healthcare professionals from across the area celebrated the opening of Healthspace South in Padnell Road.

The facility is part of the new £1m three-storey medical centre, which is the new home of Cowplain Family Practice.

On the upper floors there are now a variety of health services on offer, including X-ray facilities and an NHS dental practice.

There are 14 consulting rooms and two treatment rooms, offering physiotherapy, hypnotherapy, chiropractic, sport injury therapy and many specialised consultant-led clinics covering all aspects of health.

The facility is thanks to the close working relationship between two entrepreneurial GPs, Dr Tim Wright and Dr Michael Johns of Cowplain Family Practice, with Steve Minion, director of Ashley House plc, a national organisation which offers health and social care property services.

The majority of the services are currently private, but talks are under way about the NHS referring patients to the centre.

Julieanne Page, operational manager of Healthspace South, said: ‘It’s fabulous. We are serving not just the Cowplain community but Hampshire with a state-of-the-art health facility. We are thinking outside the box.’
