PEOPLE with respiratory illnesses in Gosport will be able to recycle their inhalers as part of a new project.

The Co-operative pharmacy and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) have launched the service as part of a six-month trial. It comes after research showed inhalers led to 450 tonnes of waste in the UK each year.

The Co-operative Pharmacy in Bury Road will offer the service. Pharmacists will remind patients to return their used inhaler and put it in a recycling box at the pharmacy which will be collected by TerraCycle UK on a monthly basis.

Inhalers will be taken to a sorting facility where every element will be recycled.
