A new online booking system will make it easier for people in Portsmouth to make dentist appointments.

Mydentist, the largest provider of NHS dentistry in the UK, has launched the new system to help families and individuals make appointments with NHS dentists following criticism of access to dentists by Healthwatch England.

A report into access to primary care found that many people are struggling to book an appointment with an NHS dentist, with as few as one in five surgeries in some areas taking on new patients.

mydentist clinical services director Steve Williams said: ‘We’re accepting new NHS patients in Portsmouth and we’ve introduced online booking to make it easier
for people to make appointments with NHS dentists and receive the care they are entitled to.

‘Across the country we have more than 650 practices. People can find their local Portsmouth practice by visiting our website mydentist.co.uk and make an appointment for themselves or their families with a couple of clicks.’

Mydentist is the first UK-wide brand in dentistry.
