THE health trust that runs a Chichester hospital has taken a starring role at an awards night.

Staff from Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs St Richard’s Hospital, took home honours at the Proud to Care awards.

Michelle Harris, a sister at St Richard’s, won the Individual Courage Award, while the trust was runner-up in the following:

n Fernhurst haematology unit nursing team at St Richard’s (Public Choice Award)

n Acute oncology team, trust-wide (Communication Award)

n Tangmere ward team at St Richard’s (Communication Award)

n Janice White, labour ward co-ordinator at St Richard’s (Compassion Award)

n Palliative care team, trust-wide (Compassion Award)

n Midwifery patient safety team, trust-wide (Competence Award)

Cathy Stone, director of nursing and patient safety', said: ‘Our winners deserve their success because they are dedicated to giving everyone high quality care.’
