Jill Steaton, south-east regional manager at Diabetes UK, said: ‘All children have the right to a fulfilling and
enjoyable educational experience.

‘That’s why we have set up a Diabetes UK’s Care in School Helpline, staffed by volunteers, many of whom are parents of children with Type 1 diabetes, who can provide information on children’s rights to support at school as well as providing emotional support if parents have any worries.’

Parents are encouraged to contact the Care in School Helpline by calling 0345 1232399 Monday–Friday, 9am–7pm, about any school-related concerns they have regarding their child and diabetes.
