A COUNTY council is getting behind a 28-day call to help people stop smoking.

Hampshire County Council is supporting Stoptober by providing employees who want to quit with the chance to access stop-smoking clinics at work.

Councillor Liz Fairhurst, is the executive member for health and wellbeing.

She said: ‘Although Stoptober provides information and encouragement to quitters across the country, as a Hampshire employer, we wanted to be able to offer extra support to our employees who wish to take up the 28-day challenge.

‘To do this we have worked with Quit4Life, our provider of specialist stop smoking services across Hampshire, to offer a workplace clinic at our headquarters in Winchester.

‘This is in addition to Quit4Life’s other clinics running across the county which our staff can access and that are open to anyone to visit.’
